Trading Log – 23 March 2010

The trading room switched to 610 and 377 tick charts this week.  So far, today, it has not made any difference to the success of the signals.  There has been a slight increase in the frequency of signals, which is good to see.

Took an early signal and was entered just as the moderator said to cancel.  Took a 2 tick loss getting out.  (Good thing as the trade went on to make a full loss if I was still in it).

Continuation Sell signal – just as the moderator lost power, I took a CS.  Entered at 1160.50  Others in the room entered at 1160.75

Signal went against us.

-1.5

No more trading live this week – back to SIM until I get confidence in the signals again.

Trading Log – 18 Mar 2010

Yesterday was FOMC Minutes day – no trades.

Today, the morning session was not successful for the room.  We only took one signal today in the afternoon.

Took a Continuation Sell (entered at 1158.25 (room entered at 1158.5).  I moved my stop an extra tick away (so it was above the T-wave) – hoping that it might give a bit more resistance.  It didn’t.

-1.75

It has not been a good month for the room.  We are down significantly for the month, but the room is still in profit for this year.  Back tomorrow.

Quadruple witching on Friday (Saturday Australia time) so won’t be trading that market, so I’ve got tomorrow to get some good signals.  Bring them on!!

Trading Log – 16 March 2010

Trading a new week.  Daylight saving over for another year so we are back to earlier starts.

I am up late working anyway, so will be trading the morning session.

First trade of the day:

Entered trade a little late after call – 1142 (DS Buy).  Price moved in our favour and we moved our stop to -3 ticks.  Price then went against us.

-0.75

Next trade:

Big Picture DS Buy – entered at 1137.50.  Trade moved nicely – got a bit anxious and moved target to +1.25 (6 t)

+1.25

Total for day:  +0.5

Only a small profit for the day (after commissions) but that’s fine.  Will use the rest of the week to work on making $150 profit.

Strategy is to invest half of all profits and withdraw other half.

Trading Log – 11 March 2010

It  has been a very unusual 2 days of trading – very low volume and very little volatility.  Today’s volume and volatility seem a bit better.

Continuation Buy Signal – entered at 1144.00.  Moved our stop to 1 pt (on advice).

Was advised to take a point – Missed the pt but got 2 ticks.  Should have waited.  Oh, well – covered commissions plus a bit.

+0.5

No other signals, although excellent volume and volatility.  Back at it tomorrow.

Afternoon session is upon us again.

Continuation Buy (first return to T-wave after breakout.  Lots of support at 1119.  We entered the signal at 1119.50 with 1.5/1.5

It appears that the up-move was a false breakout, and the support did not hold.  Stopped out.

-1.5

There has been no further trades today, which is disappointing.  There is always hope for tomorrow but that hope is beginning to fade fast.  It has not been a great month, but I am confident that things will turn around.  Keep on keeping on.

Trading Log 4 Mar 2010

It’s been a VERY quiet couple of days on the markets.  There has been a lot of movement but only directional and on very low volume so there has been no signals.

However, today may be different.

Nice Continuation Sell signal, off the A-wave.  Entered at 1118.75.  Only a 1.0/1.0 as the GAP and T-wave are close.

Market went against the signal and we were stopped out.

-1.0

T3 buy off the GAP – great place for resistance and signal formed nicely.

However, market isn’t my friend today.

-1.25

Following my trading plan, I will now not take any more live signals.  Simulation only.

No more trades for the day.  Okay, two more days this week to get back in the black.  Thinking positive and drawing that in!

Trading Log 26 Feb 2010

Last day of trading on my own.  Back in the TI trading room next week.  It has been an experience trying to match my charts with what I know are signals and avoiding non-signals.

Today I’m just in SIM (simulation), just to get my confidence back.

Continuation Buy signal (entered at 1104.50).  The price went down and made an even better CBS (with the same entry price.  Price went on to make 1 pt (stop moved to -0.5).  My target (1.5 pt) was at today’s high, so I was kind of hoping it would go to there.  Signal turned into a DS Sell at 1105 and price went into consolidation mode.  I moved my target to 1105.25 and was filled.  Market kept in consolidation mode at 1105.

Market went onto make a new daily high (1106.5) which would have brought a 2 pt profit.

No other trades for the day.  Have a great weekend, everyone.

Another day of trading on my own.  Today, I will look for a good signal and let it ride until it plays out fully.  (Of course, I will move stops and targets depending on the market, but will not close early, unless there is a conflicting signal).

Continuation Sell – entered at 1100.50.

Market went all over the place after entering.  Eventually went two ticks to profit, so stop was moved to -1.0 pt.  However, market then turned around and stopped me out.

Until I can get back into the room, I’m going to go to SIM.  I will trust that God will provide the opportunities I need to become profitable (and get enough money to pay for the TI trading room again.

Best of luck to all of you traders out there.

-1.0 pt

Trading Log 24 Feb 2010

Trading on my own today.  Yesterday was a VERY slow day on the markets (didn’t hit 1M contracts until well into the afternoon, so no trades taken.

Took this continuation Sell.  Volume bars looked okay (looked like buyer exhaustion before the signal turned).  Signal didn’t go anywhere (walked along the T-wave).  I exited early as it didn’t look like the sellers would do anything.

-0.5

(Hindsight – signal went on to make only 2 ticks of profit before going sideways.  I would have exited before it continued to go down – it was 50/50 as to which way it would continue).

No more signals for the day.  Market had some volatility but never preceded with a signal that I could take.  No matter – back tomorrow for another go.

PS A bit weird – two days in a row with weird market action.  We’ll wait and see.
